Misseristal
The Old Icelandic Calendar
From the 10th – 18th centuries, Iceland used a 364 day long calendar called misseristal. Each of the 12 months were 30 days long with a short 4 day month in the middle of summer. Leap weeks were added every few years. Each month always started on the same day of the week.
Today is Öðinsdagur the 1st day of the month of Sumarauki, the extra summer month.
